What is the Delhi to Jewar elevated expressway?
It is a proposed elevated road for the trip from Akshardham in East Delhi to Noida International Airport at Jewar. News24 and Sunday Guardian describe a corridor of about 50 km, of which around 27 km falls in Noida, with final alignment approval from the Noida Authority. Akshardham and the airport are more than 50 km apart even in a straight line, so the 50 km is the elevated stretch itself, which Construction World places between Noida Sector 94 and Greater Noida's Sector Chi-V.
NHAI is expected to handle construction and later maintenance. The cost is estimated at about Rs 4,000 crore.
What route will it follow?
The original alignment ran along the Yamuna embankment. After the UP Irrigation Department raised flooding and structural concerns, the alignment was moved about five metres toward the Noida side, and the revised route was approved. A 120 metre wide road from Sector 94 is planned to give access, and a link toward Faridabad over the Manjhawali bridge is mentioned.
Construction World's report of 24 Aug 2026 describes the same corridor differently. It has the 50 km road running from Sector 94 in Noida to Sector Chi-V in Greater Noida, with about 27 km in the Noida Authority's area, from Sector 94 to Sector 150. In that account the stretch from Sector 94 to Akshardham along Pushta Road is a second phase whose project report will be prepared later.
How many lanes, and what will it cost?
News24, NewsX and Sunday Guardian report a six-lane main carriageway, widening to eight lanes on some approaches. Construction World reports an eight-lane expressway. The reports have not settled on one figure.
The cost is stated as about Rs 4,000 crore by News24 and Sunday Guardian for the Akshardham to Jewar corridor, and as about Rs 40 bn, the same amount, by Construction World for the Sector 94 to Chi-V section. Whether the Akshardham stretch is inside that number differs between reports.
What is the status?
The alignment is approved and NHAI is preparing the detailed project report. News24 reported that soil testing is planned to assess bearing capacity along the route. Construction World reported that the Noida Authority has submitted revenue maps of 26 villages for land assessment.
None of the reports gives a construction start date or a completion date. As of 1 Nov 2026 the latest reports found are dated 24 to 31 Aug 2026, so the project is a proposal, not a road under construction.
How much time will it save?
Reports project 60 to 70 minutes between Akshardham and Jewar Airport. NewsX puts current highway trips at 60 to 90 minutes, and above two hours from parts of East Delhi at peak hours.
Which areas are named as beneficiaries?
News24 names Mayur Vihar, Patparganj, IP Extension, Kalindi Kunj and Sarita Vihar. The airport, which started commercial flights on 15 Jun 2026 with IndiGo first, can handle 12 million passengers a year in its first phase, PTI reported.
